Schreiber: ETCC title triumph will be tough

Christjohannes Schreiber has conceded it will be a tall order to win the FIA European Touring Car Cup having won three out of the opening four rounds in his Rikli Motorsport Honda Civic.

With a 13-point deficit to Petr Fulín allied to the facts he has never raced at Zolder before and Most, venue of the season-closing double-header in October, is his rival’s home track.

“It’s an unknown situation for me being involved in the title fight so late in the season but it definitely feels good,” said the Swiss. “I know that it will be difficult to catch up the 13 points to a very fast Petr Fulín, especially with the season finale on his home ground in Czech Republic. But I can promise that we will fight until the end.”

ETCC Race of Zolder takes place from 15-17 September. The former Belgian Grand Prix last hosted the ETCC in 2015.

Fábio Mota fought for a podium finish in both FIA European Touring Car Cup races at Zolder – but had to settle for a best result of fourth place scored in the first of two races in Belgium.
