Mato Homola has won round seven of the FIA European Touring Car Cup at Brno.

Starting from pole position, Homola beat fellow SEAT driver Dušan Borković in the headlining Single Make Trophy category with home hero and Petr Fulín completing the podium following the 10-lap counter.

Fulín, who demoted the slow-starting Dejan Bulatović on the run to the first corner, put Borković under early pressure, which allowed Homola to break clear out front and take a comfortable victory.

BMW pilot Davit Kajaia continued his winning run in TC2T in a fine fourth overall with Michal Matĕjovský giving home fans reason to cheer by heading the TC2 class runners in his BMW. He dropped from seventh to eighth on the final lap and will start the reverse-grid second race on pole as a result. Niklas Mackschin won Super 1600 for a sixth time this season in his Ford Fiesta.

The weekend’s second 10-lap race is due to get underway at 13h10 only this time from a standing start after a rolling start was used for the opening contest.

Christjohannes Schreiber will start ETCC Race of Vila Real defending a slender one-point lead in the battle to be crowned FIA European Touring Car Cup champion for 2017.

ETCC Race of Vila Real is set for a live television extravaganza with TVI showing both races as they happen on several digital platforms including TVI Player, TVI24.iol.pt and Facebook.com/tvi24.

Top Portuguese driver Fábio Mota will be hoping to make a big impact on the streets of Vila Real this weekend as he looks to build on his FIA European Touring Car Cup podium double last time out in Germany. This is what the LEIN Racing SEAT driver had to say ahead of his home race.
