Petr Fulín has staked his claim to FIA European Touring Car Cup glory in Sicily this weekend by going fastest in Testing 1, which was delayed by three hours after heavy rains and strong winds hit Autodromo di Pergusa this morning.

The Single Make Trophy contender from Czech Republic lapped the 4.95-kilometre track in a fastest time of 1m51.108s with Mato Homola second on a 1m51.463s in his identical SEAT.

Andreas Pfister was third in another SEAT on a 1m52.049s with SMT title leader Dušan Borković’s 1m52.068s effort putting him fourth overall.

BMW driver Davit Kajaia was the fastest TC2T contender in sixth with Peter Rikli quickest in TC2 in his Honda. Niklas Mackschin was the only Super 1600 runner to venture out on track and was P13 at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta.

While it proved a successful test for Rikli, his team-mate and protégé Daniel Conrad was not so fortunate, bringing out the red flags while his Honda was recovered from a gravel trap after the young Swiss spun off.

Testing 2 takes place from 14h30-15h15 local time. The Testing 1 classification is available by clicking here.

Petr Fulín ensured he was crowned the 2017 FIA European Touring Car Cup winner with a comfortable home victory in the second encounter at ETCC Race of Most in the Czech Republic earlier today (Sunday).
