Borković: My Brno ETCC boost was unexpected

Dušan Borković has revealed that he never expected to leave Brno with an increased advantage in the Single Make Trophy section of the FIA European Touring Car Cup.

The Serbian arrived in Czech Republic 11 points to the good in the SMT title fight having won his class on three occasions so far in 2015. However, with Petr Fulín registering just six points at his home track and Borković landing 14 points more, Borković now tops the title table by 22 points over new second-placed man and fellow SEAT driver Mato Homola.

“I am really happy after this weekend but I didn’t expect it to be this good,” said the NIS Petrol by B3 Racing driver, who won the second ETCC race in Czech Republic outright. “I was in front of Fulin in the overall standings but because of the trouble he had with the car there was a change in standings and now Homola is second and I increased my lead. I am looking forward to Belgium and I hope I will get at least this many points there so I can have comfortbale lead before the season finishes in Pergusa.”

Christjohannes Schreiber will start ETCC Race of Vila Real defending a slender one-point lead in the battle to be crowned FIA European Touring Car Cup champion for 2017.

ETCC Race of Vila Real is set for a live television extravaganza with TVI showing both races as they happen on several digital platforms including TVI Player, TVI24.iol.pt and Facebook.com/tvi24.

Top Portuguese driver Fábio Mota will be hoping to make a big impact on the streets of Vila Real this weekend as he looks to build on his FIA European Touring Car Cup podium double last time out in Germany. This is what the LEIN Racing SEAT driver had to say ahead of his home race.
