Dušan Borković took his turn to shine at Autodromo Pergusa when he went quickest in Testing 2 ahead of Sunday’s FIA European Touring Car Cup finale in Sicily.

Borković recorded an unofficial sub-record lap of 1m49.247s around the 4.95-kilometre track to edge out Single Make Trophy rival Mato Homola and TC2T pacesetter Davit Kajaia. Homola was also under the existing ETCC lap record of 1m49.913s with a best effort of 1m49.323s in his SEAT.

Kajaia’s team-mate and team boss Franz Engstler was fourth fastest in his BMW with Petr Fulín, who was quickest in Testing 1, fifth. Ronny Jost completed the top six with fellow Swiss Peter Rikli next up and fastest TC2 runner in his Honda. Gilles Bruckner was the quickest Super 1600 contender but title leader Niklas Mackschin opted not to run his Ford Fiesta.
