THEY SAID… THEY SAID…

Driver quotes after today’s qualifying session at the Salzburgring.

Fernando Monje (1st in S2000): “We had a great lap, the team did a fantastic job and the car felt wonderful, but I’ll start from P11 tomorrow because of the incident in Slovakia. It was still important to get the three points for qualifying on pole despite the penalty. Front-wheel drive cars for sure will be quick at the start of the race, but towards the end the BMW cars will become really strong and so I will have to push hard right from the start.”

Igor Skuz (2nd in S2000): “It seems that it was the perfect time to change to the SEAT because front-wheel drive suits my style of driving better than the BMW. I’m very happy with second place today. Just before Qualifying, we changed the brake pads on the car and that’s what caused the problem going into the chicane - not the car or the driver! I’m not at all worried about being the first down to Turn 1 tomorrow, but I know that if I drop places it will be hard to overtake.”

Petr Fulín (3rd in S2000): “I think engine power on the straights and especially up the hill is very important here at the Salzburgring and I think we got the best out of the car. We changed the engine because we have two engines and this one should be better here. It has some more kilometres on it and I think it could be three or four tenths quicker. I really hope that my finishing position in the races will be better than my qualifying position!”

Andreas Pfister (1st in SMT): “We had a good performance, but the conditions weren’t so easy - I’m just happy that I could stay in first place in the Single-Make Trophy. It’s my home race here in the Salzburgring and I know there are lots of fans coming so I’m looking forward to a good result tomorrow. It’s very close to Stian Paulsen because he is a very good driver, so it won’t be easy tomorrow, but I think the most important thing at this circuit is to have a good start and so I’m concentrating on doing just that.”

Aleksandar Tošić (1st in SP): “To finish ahead of Nikolay Karamyshev was the sweetest thing for me! I raced here at the Salzburgring last year, but it was very wet. This is the first time I have been here in the sunshine, but I have good memories and good experience of the track and I hope I will have a good battle tomorrow with my friend from Russia!”

Kevin Krammes (1st in S1600): “It may be starting to look easy but I can assure you that it’s not! We have a good car and a very good team and it’s hard work and lots of practice that gives us the good results. What has happened about the penalties to the drivers near me I’m not sure, but I will try my best and do what I always do, which is to try to win.”
