Fulín set a lap time of 2:15.538 in the first session, with Monje (2:17.781) second fastest and Slovakian driver Mat’o Homola third in another BMW 320si (2:19.110). Quickest of the drivers contesting the Single-make series was Andreas Pfister in his SEAT (2:19.980), while the Ford Fiesta of Kevin Krammes (2:32.29) was the fastest of the Super 1600 competitors. Making their debut in the 2012 ETCC were the three Maurer Motorsport Super 1600 Chevrolet Aveo cars; quickest of the three drivers was Vadim Meshcheryakov who set a time of 2:38.871.
The Slovakia Ring caught out quite a few of the ETCC competitors during the one-hour session, with Krammes visiting the gravel early on and Aytaç Biter repeating that feat at Turn 3 after the chequered flag had fallen. A small fire aboard Peter Rikli’s Honda Civic was quickly extinguished.|
Fulín elected not to take part in the second session, leaving series leader Monje to set the fastest time (2:16.976) ahead of Pfister (2:18.827) and Stian Paulsen (2:18.997) in identical SEAT León Cup cars. Only one of the Super 1600 entrants chose to take part in the session - Klaus Bingler, who duly set a time of 2:38.624 - while Nikolay Karamyshev in a Honda Civic Type R was the only Super Production competitor to take advantage of the Testing sessions. His best lap time was 2:28.804.
