3 Jan 2012

Maurer Motorsport announced they will take part in the 2012 FIA European Touring Car Cup with a couple of Chevrolet Aveo cars prepared for competing in the Super 1600 class. The cars will be driven by young Russian racers Alexander Frolov (21 years old) and Vadim Meshcheryakov (19 years old) who were both crowned champions of the 2011 Russian Touring Car Championship in the Touring and the National class respectively.

The Swiss team will also field the Aveo cars in the German ADAC Procar Series’ Division 2.
“We are in process to build the cars, and the whole team are looking forward to the coming season. We are very happy to work with strong partners,” said team manager Beat Maurer.
Maurer Motorsport are also in negotiations with other drivers for running a third S1600 Aveo and a couple of S2000 Chevrolet cars (Cruze and Lacetti).
