FULÍN TAKES HIS FIRST WIN OF THE YEAR
29 Apr 2012

Following his superb drive in Race 1, Petr Fulín took his first race win of the 2012 ETCC season after starting from sixth on the grid.

The Super 2000 leader after the two Monza races, Fernando Monje, had a poor start after appearing to stall on the grid but then retired on lap 3 with flames licking from the underside of his SEAT Leon. That incident brought out the safety car for three laps.
After the safety car was withdrawn at the end of lap 6, Andreas Pfister launched a determined attack on the race leader, but Fulín held off the challenge to take the victory. Pfister then finished second overall, but took maximum points in the Single-Make Trophy once again to leave Slovakia having scored 22 out of a possible 23 points.
After winning today’s first race, Michal Matějovský finished third overall and second in the S2000 class but won the event having scored 20 points against Fulín’s 18.
Also scoring 10 points in his class in Race 2 was Kevin Krammes, who has extended his lead in Super 1600 to 13 points over Paolo Necchi. Second in the category for much of the race was Ulrike Krafft, but her Ford Fiesta took to the gravel on the last lap and so Krafft had to settle for fourth place in S1600.
In Super Production, this time it was Nikolay Karamyshev who took the honours after another race-long battle with Aleksandar Tošić. The two Honda Civic Type R drivers are separated by 8 points as the ETCC heads for its next pair of races in Salzburg in May.
